Privacy Policy

This policy describes how we handle personal information when you use the Tennis Mates website (the "Site"), operated on behalf of the Sydney Community Tennis League ("SCTL", "we", "us"). We aim to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). For more information about privacy law in Australia, see the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

What we collect

Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect and hold:

  • Email address when you subscribe to email updates or request a link to manage preferences.
  • Subscription preferences, including which clubs or region you are interested in and the types of notifications you choose (for example region announcements, club announcements, or court outages).
  • Verification and security data associated with confirming your email and managing your subscription (such as tokens sent by email).
  • Technical information that servers or service providers typically log when you use a website (for example IP address, browser type, and timestamps), used for security and reliability.

Why we collect it

We use this information to send you the email communications you have asked for, to operate and improve the Site, to verify and honour unsubscribe and preference requests, and to meet legal or regulatory obligations where they apply.

Disclosure and overseas handling

We may share personal information with trusted service providers who help us host the Site, send email, or run infrastructure, only as needed for those purposes. Some of those providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where we do so, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure overseas handling remains consistent with the APPs.

Security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. We retain subscriber and related data only for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal requirements, or resolve disputes, after which we take steps to delete or de-identify it where appropriate.

Access, correction, and complaints

You may access or correct much of your subscription information at any time using the links and forms on our email updates page, including unsubscribing. For other privacy requests or complaints, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the OAIC.
